About OpenGen.net

in

This site was created by genealogy researcher Sandra Quinn and her web developer son Anthony in 2005 to support a new direction in internet genealogy and research.

Whereas much prior internet genealogy had been driven by group politics, they wanted to see all individuals become empowered both to study and share research in the way those individuals chose to.

Their original site, "OHGen.net", was the first step of achieving their vision by creating a free resource for genealogy research where authentic information could be found.

"OpenGen.net", standing for "Open Genealogy", represents the next part, where the sharing of that research in a clear, organized, and transparent way will come into focus.
