For about a year now, we have been re-imagining OHGen.net and thinking about what steps we should to fulfill its potential as a high quality resource for genealogical research.

Our priority is to create a site where individuals can freely share genealogy information, and we are currently developing a platform which will allow that.

We've also changed our site name to "OpenGen.net". It is shorthand for "Open Genealogy" and stands for our commitment to open access to genealogical materials for all researchers.

It is another new year in the field of genealogy. Lots of things have changed as the online genealogy research community becomes more and more commercial. Conglomerates own more and more of the previously free research sites and ones that haven't been swallowed up have gone off the grid of ease to find and use.

It is still my intention to find free research links for us to complete our research and to add to this site as I am finally free of my prior obligations and can dedicate more time to this work.
