In the Year 2010... Site Update!
Thank you for visiting OpenGen.net as we boldly leap into a new decade of quality genealogical research and preservation. It's been roughly a year since the last sitewide update, and whereas all of the same access tools for vital record information remain, there have been many small improvements made in anticipation of some exciting technology improvements to OpenGen which will be available in the 3rd quarter of this year.
Using internet technologies to develop a website almost always feels like being on a surfboard and scanning the pulses of the ocean for the next promising wave. The most important questions revolve around what criteria to use to make an accurate prediction, and how to make an estimate on which of the coming opportunities will provide the best ride. Should I wait for that wave in the distance that has plenty of promise but might prove unsatisfactory, or should I take this truly acceptable wave which is presently proving itself before me?
I've been on quite a few different sides of that question as I've been developing this site, trying to determine the right time to utilize new technologies to make the most useful experience possible. Unfortunately, the wave I had visualized was quite a ways out on the horizon, but thankfully it will be maturing soon.
And that is all very abstract, but I do hope that the new design and organization of the information on this site proves itself useful to all of our visitors. If you have any comments about the site, send them to us at: mail@opengen.net.
Thank you for your support of OpenGen.net!
